Cyberland - Sara made this online profile of me on May 17th. I took it down after two weeks, when I was moving away from Berkeley.

I didn’t spend any time searching people or flirting with anybody while I had the profile up, but that’s expected as a girl. It was kinda fun though, and this blog entry will tell you what the profile actually said, and the final results of the people checking me out in the two weeks the profile was up. Creepy.
“Why you should get to know me”
My name is Laura. I used to be a mechanical engineer, but I got layed off and have been having fun bumming around recently. It's much easier to tan at the beach than in a cubicle. :)
Honestly, I have a good sense of humor which can be a bit sarcastic (see my site on blogger called 'Laura in Cyberland'), am pretty low maintenance, and like to dance.
I watched a breakdancing competition last weekend, and it was AMAZING.

“What I’m looking for”
The best way I can describe what I'm looking for is a smart, happy, adventure buddy. Someone that wants to watch a breakdancing competition, and also wants to go the Exploratorium to play with the gadgets.
Questioning, curious, shameless, and dorky are all good qualities too.
For date consideration, please submit your cover letter, resume, and chocolate chip cookies to my kitchen, and your cookies will be reviewed shortly. Thanks.

As expected in online dating, I got quite a few emails from obviously sketchy people, some who had ready my ENTIRE blog, others that were just too old to be hitting on me, and one guy wrote to be about using acid in front of children – like that's an appropriate way to introduce youself to somebody. Generally speaking though, most people were just the same as real life – just plain uninteresting.

In the end, I looked through the profiles of those who had ‘sent me a wink,’ and figured it would be fun to actually do something about it. I emailed three differnt people:
1) A teacher in San Francisco,
2) A documentary maker in Alameda and
3) Some guy who was moving from the peninsula to Berkeley.

I was hoping to get some funny story about a couple guys to put in this space, but truthfully, I partied most of the weekend, and then had to move like crazy if I was going to get out of Berkeley by the 31st. Oh well. I will cheaply replace the sarcastic story about the date I didn’t go on with an email excerpt. It comes from a guy whose entire profile read “I provide key antioxidants and 100% of the USRDA for Folic Acid.”
Attractive women who post to internet personal adspaces must get that feeling... the one you get while playing space invaders, and the row of weird aliens is about to get to your tiny ship... ohhh nooooo... must delete all the weirdos... they come closer... noooooooo.
That being over and done with, I have made it to Houston in good health (neglecting the possibility that being in Texas is bad for one's health), and staying at Joe’s place has started out well. I’ll write about my first summer destination in my next blog entry, which will hopefully pop up in the next few of days.

Comments:
Doesn't Houston have Dickey's BBQ? Holy shit, you must have it...and, no, it's not expensive.

Hey, that comment on space invaders and how it must feel for an attractive girl who posts on the internet sure does make one wonder if attractive girls really DO feel like that. Doesn't it make you wonder, too Laura? Perhaps we should ask someone who might actually know. Very interesting...
-brother being an asshole, haahah
[it's a brother's job, in case you didn't know]

No, I don't have a facebook. This blog is my web presence, and if you want to reach me, it connects to my email.

Right now, I live in the bay area, but I tend to move around a lot. Staying in one place makes me so restless.
