Pitiful
A recent series of events:
Thursday - cell phone screen breaks for no apparent reason. Laura checks cell phone warranty to find that year-long warranty has expired three weeks prior. Trip to Cingular store does not award any sympathy.
Friday - After hours of communication with Visa, Laura learns that the extended warranty benefits of her credit card do not work for cell phones, since the phone is given to the customer by Cingular when signing up for a plan.
Saturday - Phone fails to turn on at all. Laura starts asking friends for old Cingular phones that are not in use. Then, waits for responses.
Tuesday - Mission: Acquire Free Phone From Friends fails. Laura gives in and makes trip to cell phone store after work. Laura does not make it to cell phone store, because car breaks down on way to store.
No phone to call car towing company, no car to get cell phone. Hey, no calls at all because phone numbers are all stored in broken cell phone.
(It also should be noted that car oil was changed on Monday, and mechanic told Laura that car was fine.)
Thursday - Laura calls parents to see if she can borrow their car, which will transport her to her own car, to meet the tow truck man and pay for the towing. Unfortunately, she learns that her dad's car is also broken.
(She calls her office to inform them that she is not going to make it to work today.)
Current: Laura is now leaving Ryan's house (where her homeless ass is squatting) to walk to her car on foot. She will then mooch a ride to the mechanic with the tow truck, and convince the mechanic to give a free ride 'home,' which in her case, will be a ride to the cell phone store. Then she will be stranded at the cell phone place, and probably walk back to Ryan's house and wait for the mechanic to call, all the while feeling bad for herself, and whining on her blog.
I hate technology.
