Anyone there?
Tuesday, February 08, 2005
So about two months ago, i started a vacation from my job during which i bummed around in Palo Alto at my parent's house. People that know my parents know what that means: no internet. No IM, and no blogging.
Either way, i have moved back to Berkeley again, and we sorta kinda have internet and phone but neither of them seem to be set up very practically. I never sign online or write in my blog anymore, but i've been wanting to start again. If you read this, leave me a comment. Maybe if people are still checking my site, then i'll see if i can keep up with the columns again.

Anyway, in the news of my life... I learned yesterday that the fusion program at LBNL is being cut 60% to move funding to the ITER (an internation tokamak fusion reator) project next year. Since 90% of our fusion funding goes towards people's salaries, there is a lot of anxiety and anticipation about what will probably happen sometime soon. It's been a bit depressing around here.

Comments:
Laura! Sorry about cut-backs! That sucks ass. When is that supposed to happen next year? Seems like you'd have plenty of time to find a new job... and people will be impressed by your experience. Also, they might want to keep you since you're a cheap intern (who is, in fact, PRICELESS DAMMIT!) Still, that kinda thing is bound to make all of your co-workers grumpy. This sounds like an emergency that could be remedied by one of two beach-filled baggies!

Why is your roommate the devil??? I am concerned.

No, I don't have a facebook. This blog is my web presence, and if you want to reach me, it connects to my email.

Right now, I live in the bay area, but I tend to move around a lot. Staying in one place makes me so restless.
