A Day at Work
Thursday, April 05, 2007
Goal: to install a wall-socket onto an electical box.

11:13am
Arrive at work. Make tea, chat with Julia, eat cereal.

11:44am
Enter lab, inspect sockets. Decide to remove screw in middle of socket.

11:58am
Begin search for screwdriver. Find flathead screwdriver, but realize that the screw is a philips. Get annoyed, continue searching.

12:10pm
Locate ridiculously small philips screwdriver. Feel increasingly frustrated. Force little tiny screwdriver to work by pushing screwdriver really hard into screw. Feel accomplished for having done something.

12:12pm
Leave for extended lunch break.

Any day now, cold fusion will be an applicable source of abundant, clean energy. I should ask for a raise.

You never know... I mean, penecillin was discovered by accident, right?

One of my professors once said that the difference between good scientists and great scientists was just that capability: to be able to look at an evident mistake, and rather than throwing it away, realize its potential even though you weren't looking for it.

Maybe cold fusion will be something you just trip over, one of these days, while trying to do something else.

Then again, maybe our plumbing will start supplying us with hot and cold running mercury, and ordinary bananas will start sprouting wings... I dunno, fruit flies?

Dude you have a lot of work to do! Ask them for an intern to help you. Interns are hot

Sorry I'm not down in San Mateo anymore for out weekly lunch trysts. What will your coworkers gossip about now?

No, I don't have a facebook. This blog is my web presence, and if you want to reach me, it connects to my email.

Right now, I live in the bay area, but I tend to move around a lot. Staying in one place makes me so restless.
